Lucy Hale (born Karen Lucille Hale) is an American actress and singer. She is best known for playing Aria Montgomery on the drama Pretty Little Liars. She plays the lead character, Stella Abbott in the CW dramedy, Life Sentence.


Lucy was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. Her parents names are Julie Knight and Preston. She has a sister named Maggie and a step-sister named Kirby. Lucy was homeschooled as a child. During her childhood, she took acting and singing lessons. When Lucy was 15, she moved to Los Angeles in hopes of receiving a record deal. Afterward, she received minor roles on television series such as Drake and Josh , Ned's Declassified School Survival, The O.C., and How I Met Your Mother .She made her big screen debut in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.

She first appeared on television in the reality show American Juniors in 2003 and was part of the vocal quintet formed with the top 5 finishers, but the group disbanded in 2005 after lackluster sales.On June 12, 2012, it was announced that she had signed a record deal with Hollywood Records. Hale's debut single "You Sound Good to Me" was released on January 7, 2014, with her debut album, Road Between, released on June 3, 2014.
